Lafayette Square Park saint Louis Mo

We visited Lafayette Square not knowing what to expect. We would suggest bringing walking shoes, a camera, and bread for the ducks. The area is like stepping back in time to the Victorian Townhouses era. The Townhouses and lawns are immaculate with colorful doors, windows, and secret gardens. CaN explorer enjoyed the walk around the block as we explored the neighborhood and saw the fountain, coffee shops, and boutiques. Lafayette Square has an open house on June 1&2. We did not attend this event as we went a few weeks earlier when they were preparing for the event.

The relaxing park with historic charm and walking trails make a perfect backdrop for the old-world charm. We gave it 2 thumbs up: however, he suggests you bring a bike, duck food, a fishing pole, and walking shoes. Per: neighbor in Saint Louis’ post-Elegant Lafayette Square centers on leafy Lafayette Park, a popular setting for concerts and outdoor films, and baseball games played on a vintage-style field. The green space is surrounded by stately Victorian Townhouses.

Lafayette has summer events to include movies in the park, open houses, and vintage baseball played as it was in the 1860s. We enjoyed the duck pond, fishing, and walking across the old iron bridge. They also have three cannons that Christian loves to play on. He enjoyed the children’s play area with large stone frogs and turtle statues. He also played on the outdoor stage. While playing, enjoying a picnic, or fishing in the pond you can admire the Gateway Arch in the background.

This park is full of history and charm. With the Victorian Townhouses, gardens, and iron and stone gates at its entrances it was like stepping back in time to a quaint, quiet, and refined time where people lived at a slower pace of life. Preparing for your visit: Parking is free street parking. The grounds have a paved walking path has accessible bathrooms and eating areas. You may choose to bring bread to feed the ducks.

The kiddos may want to ride their bike- I did not see any Lime Scooters or bikes in the area. You can take a stroll over a picturesque bridge and enjoy the families of ducks and geese or head over to the pond and fish or admire the swan family. You can also bring a fishing pole or make your own. The park also has a self-guided tour that takes you past Park House, Circular Horse trough, Elizabeth Cook Pavilion, the Bronze casting of a statue of George Washington, and the Victorian townhouses. ( we did not do this tour as he just enjoyed the walk) You may choose to visit the cafes across the street and around the block where you may enjoy a snack or coffee. If you choose to stay for evening events you can enjoy dinner and wine. We took a walk and saw the café, fountain, and Townhouse the area is famous for.

This is a family-friendly area for all to enjoy in one of the oldest parks west of the Mississippi where you may enjoy family-friendly events listed on their website or enjoy quiet, self-reflection time to yourself while enjoying to landscape and view of the Gateway arch.
