Standing on Santa Monica beach was really fun. We had a great time. My favorite part was surfing for the first time. It was cool Duke really did not like the water at all so that’s the only part that kind of sucked I did get a little bruise but it wasn’t bad though. I also got a surfboard from there, or I guess a paddleboard, actually.
My nana’s favorite part was watching me ride the waves while surfing. It was a lot of fun for me, but she was scared I was getting out too far because I did not have a lifejacket. I think I was ok, but the waves got big, and I came in a little closer. It was still really fun. I think she has a Facebook life, you can see me doing my boogie boarding- surfboarding. I just loved it all and feel like I was made for California, well, Los Angeles.
The sand was too hot for us to walk on, and Duke would try to jump back and forth so his paws would not burn up. But it didn’t stop him from running away from the waves or chasing seagulls. Oh, Duke also got into a fight with another dog. The water definitely tasted salty, very salty, and there were these little clams, kind of, I don’t know what they are. But it was pretty cool. The water felt like warmish colder, don’t know how to explain it. Maybe tepid…
The sun was very hot. What I mean by “hot” is that it was very warm outside, like I could not even wear a tank top; if I did, I would get a really bad sunburn. There was a little bit of wind blowing on that day, which makes it deceiving how sunburned you get. But the weather was perfect for playing in the water and walking across the beach. As I looked out at the water for the first time, I was in awe of how big the ocean was. The second time was with my mom in Alabama. I had some of my cousins, my step-grandma, and Papa. But I was a little kid at that time, probably like three or four. Time was a completely different experience, and the ocean was so beautiful and cool, like my breath away in awe.
As we walked around Santa Monica beach, there were these little ground squirrels. They were all over the park, and they would take food from my hands when I was throwing up. There was a really chubby one who kept taking all the food; they seemed to live underground.
We ate at California Pizza Kitchen, which was really good. I had white truffle topping on my pizza. We heard music at the end of the pier. I had to buy myself new clothes because they were so wet and sandy, but the new clothes from Santa Monica beach were pretty cool. I will show you a picture of the shirt because it is really cool. We got three. Oh, OK, the end of Route 66 is at Santa Monica Pier. I also have a picture of me standing on Route 66, and we came back to the big opening at the Santa Monica Pier. There was a dad and a kid; they were a pretty good singer, so if you see them, say you guys are really good. When my nana has the video done and the picture sorted from our trip, you can see them all on my YouTube channel: Hidden Nuggets.
