I went to my appointment today and thought it was great. I had a good time in the gym because I was able to develop an obstacle course out of the items in the gym. I choose 5 items, and my therapist chooses 1. What I played on today was: trampoline, swinging into the soft block pit, swinging with my arms and knees, balancing on my feet two times, and swinging on my knees. So I did it 5 times each: moving from the trampoline, balancing on the ball, swinging into the softball pit, and being in the triangle with my knees.
It was a lot of fun today. I also practiced writing with chalk today. This activity was to help get my hands ready for the crossword puzzles. I made the infinity sign 13 times. This exercise helps me with my writing and letters. It also helps my cross over to the opposite side *crossing mid-line* is what my therapist calls it. We are going to learn to write cursive soon. I also have to practice my writing during the week. Which is what my Nana and I do before school each morning.
I use two of the games and/or exercises my O.T. Therapist gives us to practice every morning before school. This helps me to have better mornings at school. If I use them while I am in school, it helps my day go better. I have a hard time remembering stuff from earlier in the day; my Nana calls it sequencing, so using some of these activities helps with that also. Today we traveled on Route 66 and ate at Uncle Bob’s pancake house.
I was tired after the session, but still ate chocolate chip pancakes, bacon, and drank hot cocoa. I am never too tired to eat pancakes! I talked to the waitress a lot. She was so interesting, and we discussed all kinds of things, like if I wanted to go to school tomorrow, how much I liked the day off, where we were going after we ate, and if I liked only pancakes. Nana and I stopped at Best Buy to buy a video editing program.
I made a short video telling you I was going to O.T. today, and I have issues with breaking pencils and having meltdowns. These exercises help me to remember to stop and think, or put only a little pressure on my pencils or my dog, so I don’t break the pencils or hurt my pets. I really like Mercy OT and think that if you need OT, you might also like it.
Nana and I work on my exercises daily. I have made a video with our time practicing some fun things we do each morning. I made an obstacle course this morning. I am adding the video to this blog. Proprioceptive exercises are the best! We used to play tug of war, red light green light, and push me to pull you.
