My dream was to be in the JROTC. I could see myself doing that when I’d sit by my Nana’s house and watch them go past with the parade in their uniforms and flags, and I would say, ” Nana, I want to do that.
I never thought I would be able to because I struggled so much in school, but when I went back in 9th grade, I realized I was stronger than I thought I was, and I even made it to the Raiders, the elite team for the Air Force. I would go to their championships. I’m adding the pictures of their championships, and our team won four medals.
This was something I never thought I could do especially with sensory processing and my balance and strength but I realized with all my work on OT I was just doing it in a different way. I hope you can see that all the pushing, climbing, and carrying were things I did when I was in OT and on our travels. I thought I would never get into JROTC because school was so hard and I was in so much trouble all the time, but my Nana said Never give up, give up God knows the end from the beginning.
I didn’t know what that meant, but I’m glad I didn’t give up.
